Ceramic Intalox Saddle The purification section is a pressurized three catalyst process, and the filling material for its saturated hot water tower has always been ceramic rings. Every time the porcelain ring is replaced, a large amount of manpower and material resources are required; Moreover, the ceramic ring is prone to crushing in the later stage of use, which increases the resistance of the tower and sharply reduces the circulation of hot water, affecting the recovery of heat energy. In severe cases, the broken ceramic ring can enter the pump body along the inlet pipe of the hot water pump, damage the impeller, and even block the pipes and water heater tubes.
Stainless steel 304 saddle rings were used for corrosion resistance testing. As the saturated heat tower body is lined with composite steel plates, the most severely corroded part of the entire tower is the upper part of the saturated tower where the foam removal layer is located. Therefore, the experimental point was taken at this location. The fertilizer plant weighs the 304 saddle ring and places it into the saturation tower, rotating it above and below the demister shed and the hot water nozzle; After the testing time, a detailed inspection was conducted on the samples taken out of the tower and weighed. Through experiments, it was found that the corrosion was not severe, and there was a thin layer of dirt (mainly oil sludge, catalyst powder, etc.) on the surface of these samples. The dirt appeared loose and could be easily scraped off with a knife. After scraping off the dirt, the saddle ring packing is covered with a layer of dark brown film, which is firmly bonded to the metal surface and difficult to scrape off with a knife. It is insoluble in 40% nitric acid (soaked for 18.5 hours) and slightly soluble in 15% hydrochloric acid (soaked for 2.5 hours). The sample after scraping off the dirt is weighed again, and the weight loss rate is about 2.26% of the original weight.
Due to the formation of a complete protective film on the 304 saddle ring packing during use, based on the operation and production of the saturation tower and hot water tower, the fertilizer plant believes that it can fully meet production needs and is estimated to last for at least 10 years.
The use of saddle ring packing in saturation towers has good corrosion resistance, high mass transfer efficiency, and good heat transfer and separation effects, which can save energy and reduce consumption for factories.
